Letter from our President
March 2008
n Target – Some words from your President
We belong to an archery club. We’re not a hunt club. We’re not a motorcycle or ATV club. The land belongs to the city of Palos Verdes, and we’re allowed to use it. We maintain it. When Club members use—make that abuse—the property, it’s our Club that has to pay for it! Off-roaders who came after the last rain to spin doughnuts or figure-eights cost us almost $600.00 in road repairs and cleanup! This money could have gone to so many better uses! Because this destruction is on City land, future trespassers—this INCLUDES Club members—will be charged for the repairs as well as additional fines and/or penalties imposed by the City. We’re permitted to use the land for ARCHERY. That’s it! And for over 250 member families, that’s fine! It’s not fair for a few people to tear up the roads, the parking areas, and spew mud on the picnic area just for their pleasure, and we ask that it stop. The range will be off limits to everyone after it rains until the roads are dry, and those seeking off-road fun in the mud need to find another venue. Keep in mind that other groups have their eyes on this land, and after 52 years, it would be a shame to lose the use of this property because of the brief abuse of it by a few.
Keep seein' sp ts,
