Letter from our President
March 2007

¤n Target – Some words from your President

Without checking last year’s stat’s on tournament attendance and meeting attendance, it’s obviously up in both categories! I’m not sure what the reason is, but I’m not complaining—unless we have to hire valets to park cars for the shoots… The attitude is that of positive support and camaraderie, and it works! MAJOR kudos to Bob Carrillo and those who helped him put on an outstanding 3-D Shoot! 47 shooters (including five youth,) food from Girl Scout cookies to hot dogs to venison, trophies and ribbons—the works!

We continue to grow, and in some ways, we continue to change. With a consensus to explore use of the south end, the outcome may prove better for both our Club and the PVP Land Conservancy alike.

Dale Warren put up new signs at the gate which lasted less than 48 hours, so it’s clear someone’s not thrilled with our half-century presence. It’s a shame the coward(s) can’t confront us diplomatically with words instead of vandalism.

Next month (April,) we will meet at the Ladera Linda Community Center. Carol Hitchcock has spent hours in negotiation to maintain the Alondra Park meeting place, but groups like ours that only meet monthly have a weaker voice than those who want the same time slot with weekly consistency. So for now, Alondra is sadly out of the picture. We’re open to ideas.

For those of you with children or otherwise busy schedules, please know that our membership meetings start exactly at 7:30 PM, they still have a refreshment break with drawings, but they now end at 8:30 or VERY shortly thereafter. Last meeting featured both a slide show and free lamination of membership cards. Bring your card next meeting to get it sealed in plastic!

Lastly, we’re investing in a better, more current website (www.southbayarchery.net,) so keep watching it as it soon will have a web-version of this Newsletter with updated photos and links.

Keep seein’ sp¤ts,
