Letter from our President
August 2009

On Target – Some words from your President

Hello SBAC members,

Are we in the dog days of summer yet? I sure am feeling it, but there is
always something to be done. The range does not take care of itself, and I
would once again like to thank those folks who keep it looking that way. You
do not need to have adopted a lane to contribute to the general upkeep, and
vice-versa. If you have not been down there in a while, you will want to
come and check out your lane. There has been considerable movement of late
as all that rainwater from this spring has finally percolated its way down
to the area which acts like a water slide for our range. Large cracks have
opened on the road and in the lanes.

The road was scheduled for maintenance early in August, and by the time you
read this it will have been smooth and probably by now is cracking open
again. We have some cones down in the main bin which we can set out. Please
do not put braches and/or large stones on the road as a way of marking
hazards; they become hazards themselves.

We have had new members join the club over the last couple of months, and I
have seen some of them at the shoots. They are easy to spot: they are the
ones who look a bit unsure of what is going on and tend to stand quietly and
observe. If you see one of these people at a tournament, be friendly and
offer a spot with your shooting group, if the is room. Remember, our mission
as a club is to spread goodwill and camaraderie while promoting the sport of
archery.

New members, and renewals who do not have their old card, must provide proof
of participation in the sport of archery when registering of renewing. This
is usually in the form of a bow.

As long as we all continue to work together, this will continue to be a
great club.

Niels
